found a press

I printed today using a very nice press in a wonderful studio overlooking a beautiful northern rivers rural scene. As I contemplated the friendly press that was being very agreeable to me...and ate my vegemite sandwich, I felt like I was in heaven!

I am very fortunate to be able to print at this studio, which is really idylic and it makes me think I will never buy a press because if I did I would be printing in a garage and that cannot be so good for ones soul!

Surely some good work must follow, this print is a reworking of one already editioned, I used it to get used to the press because it is not so big and I could use less paper up as I worked into the mysteries of the new press, which as I said turned out to be very kind to me!

  1. Powerful image. I like the composition, especially the placement of the whale.

  2. Wow!

    I have to ask, are any prints of this available to purchase? I think it's really beautiful.

  3. Hi Alex, yes as it happens I have prints available, I plan to do an edition of 20 (have done 3 so far!) and because I have not been working that much I think this will be my silkcut entry. Silkcut closes on 10 June I think. Alex you should whip up a lino and enter that award, honestly. Look it up on the internet. I am always pathetically grateful when I get a print accepted! as it is a high profile art award that is just about lino. If anyone is interested in purchasing direct from me just email me. gcleahy05@yahoo.com.au

  4. Hello Georgina,
    My name is Magda, I was Visiting Snail and while giving a belated 1st Blog Anniversary noticed your Shell Logo amid the Comments. Hope you don't mind... I've ventured over after reading your Profile. I'm glad I did.

    I have not encountered this type of art in the happening before. Your results are very interesting. I felt my self being inspired to think about what I was seeing and what feelings were being evoked within me.

    With just my brief visit I felt very moved by the Stories I felt flow from the image as a result of your kind press. May you both have other creative Journeys together. It does feel good when one feels a bonding occur... I believe when one regularly works with things, sensitivity develops and the item it self senses what is being aimed for as one works it.
    Thank you, hope you won't mind me visiting again. Magda in Australia

  5. Hey Georgina,
    Nice little blog you've got here! If my memory serves me correctly, this is a different site to where you posted your 'Willowbank Studio' evaluation (?)
    Next time we catch up we should talk about tagging each other's sites. Not sure if I've already told you but a Lismore friend of mine built a great site for me at;
    www.scott-trevelyan.com
    Great site for guys to view the studio if they require a press etc.
    Cheers, Scott
