proof segments

I am liking them better now, at first I was a bit appalled! I think when I get to the press with some good paper I will be happier. I cannot get a good print at home ever. I don't know how every one else does it! I mean I do, but it just never works for me. There is something so clean and black that I cannot seem to get, even using thin paper. Also I like thicker paper, I find the flimsy paper drives me wild with anxiety that I get a crease or crinkle where I should not.

  1. Hi Georgina. Good for you for stepping back and waiting before you pass judgment. Sometimes I panic when the first proof doesn't look like the picture in my head and if I work the block in that state of panic I'm very likely to ruin it. There's so much energy in your cuts and marks. I like that.

  2. Same here, I like the "expression" that is clear in your carving technique and style. Very nice. Ping me "off-list" for the printing of lino, it has taken me about 8 years, but I now have a method that is working very well.

  3. I think they both look great - a good balance between black and white is key and one I'm still striving to achieve, well done.

  4. I have been reading the posts through Baren and am completly enamoured by your latest work. I think your ladies are amazing and going to be beautiful prints.

Secretly I'm hoping these are ready for the annual Impress show later this year so I can see them in person. Your 'Murder Of Crows' was by far my favourite in last years show.

I really do love the natural style of your work!
    Alex.

  5. Hi Alex

Thanks for that. I sent an email to Impress about that recently so I hope to be a part of that exhibition. It is good to be back doing some printing.
